Ray Schuhmann discusses "The Black Hole of Language Translations" at the SDL Language Technology Showcase.
SDL invited Ray Schuhmann
, President of Kinetic Corporation to present "The Black Hole
of Language Translations" at the SDL
Language Technology Showcase, held earlier this month in New York City.
Kinetic provides clients with highly customized experiences using industry standard, SDL translation memory
technology API's that shine the light on language translation spend - which can lead to multimillion dollar
savings – turning a Dark Spend into a valuable Corporate Asset.
Having a global voice is a competitive advantage in the marketplace today. The ability to produce multi-lingual
corporate communications that accurately represent a brand's style and personality is quickly becoming one of the
keys to success and in some cases a legal requirement. Schuhmann shared his experience of how leading brands have
improved global brand consistency, reduced costs and accelerated Time-to-Revenue using the Kinetic Solution.
Schuhmann discussed Kinetic’s expertise and perspective on:
- Centralizing visual and voice assets
- Accelerating cycle times while reducing time-to-market
- Making smarter decisions with the aid of global metrics
- Shifting fulfillment strategy from the decades old "Push" Model to an internet enabled "Pull" Model
- Adding value and reducing costs utilizing a global Print-on-Demand network
"The SDL Language Technology Showcase focuses on learning global content best practices from top global brands,"
said Schuhmann, "and we've been fortunate to work with some great brands that trusted us to help them transform
their processes to accomplish their business objectives. I'm excited to share some of our stories and am looking
forward to connecting with other industry leaders."
Alison Toon, Hewlett-Packard's Translation and Localization Manager, Content Management Services also presented at
the Showcase. She also discussed Best Practices, and the experiences they have been through to get to the level
of translating 800,000,000 words annually. Hewlett-Packard is a Kinetic Channel Partner.
Kinetic wins business to centralize translation memory & automate language translations.
The global leader in the design, manufacturer, installation, and maintenance of power generation and energy
delivery technologies headquartered in Atlanta, GA has selected Kinetic Corporation to develop a global
communications solution that provides web-based tools to automate the language translation process and improve
translation memory quality. With 82,000 employees operating in 140 countries, the key driver for the client was
quality, coupled with the ability to drive down the cost of language translations. Kinetic competed against industry
heavy weights SDL and Translations.com for the business. "We are very excited about winning this opportunity and the
outstanding potential of expansion with this global brand."
